So my wife went to the BP gas station and put gas in the car. She filled 5 gallons. About an hour later the car starts surging and dying while idling. I told her to be easy with the car and bring it home. The check engine light never came on until a day later. So I did the standard and cleaned the maf, changed fuel filter, changed air filter, checked for vacuum leaks. Thinking it was bad gas I put sea foam in the tank and filled it with gas.

Went for a long drive and not one issue until I pulled into the driveway.
While sitting there idiling for 10 mins the idle drops and returns to normal 2 times. So I pull the iac valve and clean it. There was some carbon build up on it so I cleaned it the best I could. I went for long drive again and everything seemed well up until I pulled into the driveway. Sitting idiling the idle drops and returns to normal.

I have recently replaced the water pump shortly there after the top coolant elbow decided to burst covering everything in coolant. The catalytic converter and spark plugs were replaced last year. 05LS 180,000 miles.

It sounds like you got some water with that gas. I'd run the tank down and get some fresh gas and i'd put some techtron fuel injector cleaner in there and see what happens.

OK so we have been through 2 tanks of gas. When the car gets to temp the issue is the car wants to die and sometimes it does. It will surge then the rpm jump to 2 grand and the car returns to normal idle.

Try unplugging the Mass Air Flow to see if it makes any difference...It will set the check engine light though.

you can also tap on the throttle position sensor. If the idle or rpm goes crazy, its easy enough to replace.
