Think it's time to replace the intermediate shaft, is the any better than Dorman or the Dealer.

Not really an answer to your question but have you tryed greasing it ? A friend gave me an empty syringe and plug he got from the dealer. I refilled it with Molybdenum Disulfide grease ( its real thick stuff we use on truck fifth wheels) Its been quiet for 3 or 4 years now.

Dealer replaced the original part on 4/22/10 and again 4/11/12 with part #19179923. They never used grease, but the part should last longer than 2 years. I figured since It had to removed to be greased, I might as well replace it. I was going to go with Dorman through Autozone, since they have a lifetime warranty. With a lifetime warranty I'll replace every two years, instead of greasing it. Maybe I'll purchase from Autozone, inspect the factory part and if grease can be use return the replacement to Autozone.

It doesn't have to be totally removed to be greased, only from the steering wheel side. after reading, the new one you have GM says it doesn't need grease, but it has failed. Here is a little right up on it..But as I said it doesn't need to be removed.
