I'm going to be replacing the fuel level sending unit, and was thinking it might make sense to spend the extra $ and replace the fuel pump at the same time. I've never had a problem with the pump but the car has 217,000 miles on it so I was thinking it might be good to have a clean filter sock in there.

Any opinions on whether it would be worth it? Thanks.

Might as well. Morad Parts sells fuel pumps for around $60 with a 90 day warranty...cheaper than buying a new sending unit.

I probably would. No reason to do the labor twice.

when you remove the access plate use a sparkles punch like bronze/ brass. I replaced mine last year and I bought a new gasket from GM. I could not get the pump back in w/ the new gasket nor can anyone else that has replaced the pump. Had to use the old gasket. See if you can figure it out.
