Can I sue GM for previous expenses that I had to pay for when I used to have an Impala?

The recall goes up to 2004. Does that mean the problem was non existent on 2005 & up. Different parts, or something? GARY

Probably discovered the problem in 2004, corrected it and it took 10 years for a recall to happen.

Yes. In 2005 a different material was used for the valve cover gasket at production.

I'm interested to see what GM does to "fix" the problem, since this is round two for this recall.

Most of us have replaced our intake gaskets and with that...the valve cover gaskets.

Ironically, this is yet another recall that I avoided.

2001 L36. I replaced the valve cover gaskets within the first year or two of owning it. I replaced the ignition switch around the same time with aftermarket to try to fix my Passlock issue (yeah, I threw a lot of parts at it). I put a L67 from a 2005 in it back in 2008.

I've skipped town of three recalls now. Wink

I paid to have my all fixed (i.e oil leaking seals)

do I get the money back from that?

it was $4-600
labor is expensive in CA

these were original OEM seals I used

god damn have to have them replaced again.. I'm NOT very happy about that. that the replacement seals are probably faulty as well...
UGH...

does not matter you are entitled to compensation

Sure GM will issue another recall for the ignition switch because the band-aid is useless to correct the actual problem with the ignition and minor hit to the key can shut off the engine and cause a crash ( or if you have bench seating passenger accidentally touches key)

The recall hasn't been officially released yet, so the details are unclear. Generaly though, yes, you would get the money you paid for the v/c gasket and labor only, as long as it's fully documented and within a specific time frame.

Earlier this year at a auto repair shop... not a dealer
Feb or march
faulty replacement seals were installed though(part# 25532619)... I'm not sure how much I paid (labor )but I'll see if I can get a copy of the receipt from him..

as i have misplaced or lost mine

in a lighter note new GM assumed responsibility from old GM

Just an important heads up for us with custom engine covers....

2000-2004. If you have ever replaced your lower intake you probably already changed the gasket.
