My CV joints are shot. I contacted CVJ Axles to see if they had some in stock. The gentleman I spoke with told me I would have to take my CV Joints off and provide them with part numbers because the CV joints in the 2004 SS models get a little weird and I would want to make sure I have the right ones. Has anybody heard this before?

Just order the Cardone Select (non-rebuilt) axles off Rockauto...they are pretty cheap. The only thing I have ever heard of with the SS (as it uses the 4T65E-HD transmission which has a larger differential and case than the the 4T65E) is one of the axles is shorter than the other.

Not as it pertains to an Impala, but years ago our shop had an import that needed axles. 3 different auto parts suppliers sent us wrong axles for the car, so we finally sent the axles from the car to someone who could rebuild them. Problem solved. GARY

any of the 2000 - 05 Impalas one axle is shorter than the other. I thought the only difference with the HD trans in the differential area was the output bearing was a roller bearing. You may not be able to use the non supercharged Impala CV joints. you might also want to rent or buy an axle puller, not to be confused with a rear wheel drive axle puller.

Not familiar with the place you listed but any reliable part store should be able to get cv axles straight on an ss. It is a different passenger axle only iirc. Drivers is the same.
