2005 Chevrolet Impala

PostPosted: Wed Jul 15, 2015 8:09 pm    Post subject:  Interior lights Reply with quote

I have a 2005 Impala 9c1. It was a former marked police unit. I am trying to find out how to get the dome lamp to turn on when I open the door. The light does work via the switch.
I am also wondering did these cars come equipped with a glove box lamp and foot well lamp on the passenger side?

Thanks for the help!!!

I have a 9C3 car. Push the surv mode button & the dome lamp should come on when you open the door. At least it does on my car. My glove box has no lamp too. GARY

Dome light inhibit is one of the available options to police package Impalas. I don't remember what the RPO code is, but it should be listed on the RPO option sticker inside the trunk lid or on the spare tire cover. The only way to have it function as normal is to buy a new BCM (Body Control Module) and have it programmed to not enable that option, as they are only able to be programmed once. Think $160+ in parts unless you can score a deal on one, then an hour of labor to program at the dealership.

The foot well lamp on the passenger side should be tucked up underneath the panel below the glove box. You should see it as soon as you pull the panel down unless it got stuffed behind the carpet. All the wires for the emergency lighting is over there and it's pretty common to not have someone put the light socket back into the holder in that drop panel when the panel is down.

I believe the glove box light got removed by GM sometime during one of the model year production changes to save money. My 2001 has a glove box light.

My 05 LS had no glove box light . A trip to the scrap yard fixed that. Very Happy
