Car came with clear power steering fluid,... that's what I would put back in it.

Ok, I want to change the hoses as well just don't understand why the return hose is so expensive. I guess I'll reuse the return hose unless I find problems with it.

I couldn't find an aftermarket return hose when I looked several years ago, so they probably aren't replaced/don't fail that often. Economy of scale with regards to the pressure hose and competition from the aftermarket probably drives the price down on the pressure hose.

As far as fluid goes, I used a little less than two quarts to flush and refill the entire system. It doesn't hold much - something like 12 oz I think. I went with the Valvoline Max Life. Still have two quarts left over in the garage. Wink

Next to my favorite U-Pick there's a place that makes hydraulic hoses. You bring them the old hose, & they'll make a new one exactly the same. Excellent quality, & much cheaper than OEM. See if you have a place like that near you. I only use real GM ps fluid. GARY
