I apologize if this has been beat to death but the search function did not help me find a solution here.

I have an 03 Impala LS today the blower motor fan started all on it's own with no key in the ignition.

I had to pull the 25A fuse to get it to stop. I checked the fan switch, it still runs even when I unhook this, fan runs on high speed, changing the speed does nothing.

Blower motor control module or blower motor resistor? I believe the car has both, mine is equipped with dual zone.

Any ideas?

Thank You!

Jim

the resistor is a common fail point, but I dont remember it ever keeping a fan running. Usually just eliminates some of the speeds.

For now I replaced the blower motor resistor I used bwd part number RU867 as the local parts store had it in stock. Issue seems to be fixed for now. We'll see. I confirmed my cars water deflector was in place, I saw no signs of water in the cabin but resistor had some corrosion on it.
