Had to replace the coolant elbows last night with some dorman 47065hp aluminum elbows. The original dorman ones were plastic and the one at the rear cracked around the oring. Of course it had to do all this when is -8 degrees out.

My question is this. Since the elbows are aluminum...they should be reusable. I have looked on the dorman site and was unable to find replacement orings. I will probably have to do a water pump in the future. I may email dorman Monday and see what they say.

The o-rings on the Dorman plastic elbows leak; I wouldn't trust the aluminum elbows to be any different. Wink ZSPOT can get you a price on GM o-rings if they are sold separately.

I would agree that the o-ring going into the water pump went in pretty easy.

The problem with the Dorman aluminum elbows, are the cheap Dorman o-rings. Most GM dealers will stock them, or I can mail you a set. $5 shipped for all four GM seals from me.

Cool, I had nothing but issues with the plastic ones...I still couldn't get them to not leak even when I put a thin layer of silicone in the cavities that they went into. It made it fun when I finally replaced them with the GM elbows. Wink

That is an awesome person to know. I wish I had someone whose head I could fill with ideas of all the parts or cars need!

I changed mine in January, swapped the o rings and haven't had any issues yet.
