I have a 2000 model with 150,000 miles. Everything is stock (radio, etc.). I have a something draining the battery that leaves the battery dead if I don't start it every day I have pulled the negative terminal off the battery and put in an amp meter. After about 10 seconds the draw hits a cycle of 1.86 amps for about 10 seconds then down to 0.04 amps for about 10 seconds, back to 1.86 amps, etc.

The fuses are behind the doors to pull them the doors need to be open causing the interior light to be on and there's no button to push to turn them off how do I cut them off also

Has anyone had this problem I need to find this
Thanks

I had this problem in a Gran Prix. Blown rectifier diodes in the alternator. In older cars, the diodes were easy to replace, but in newer cars, they can't. As long as I started the car every other day, it was fine. Wait 3 days, & the battery was dead. GARY

Does the 2000 have the automatic dome light shut off? I have a 04 & if the doors are open more than ~10 minutes it shuts off the dome light. I believe that fuse/relay is on the passengers side fusebox.

This guy seems crazy but has some good tips. Worth a look-its tough chasing electrical gremlins! You can do it without the resistor, just read amps instead of volts (I think someone said that in the comments).

I did all that and found the problem (1.86 volt draw) it was the passenger side door jam lock fixed that, and the meter said( .17) draw for 1 hr. that's good
(battery was charged) but when I put everything away and tried to start the car it would not start it would not crank at all everything worked lights radio everything but would not crank over not even a click
I did 4 security relearns but no start
2 (11min.)3 times no start
2 (12min.)3 times no start
??????????????????????????
OH WELL something to think about
It wouldn't be right for everything to go the way it was suppose to go haha
fix one problem and get another one
anyone have ideas let me know
Thanks

Why not set the parking brake while doing the relearn? I did it, battery was fine and car started right up

on the web said 10min. 3 times and wait 5 seconds between cycles
is this right
I've not heard of setting the parking brake while doing the relearn

All the places I've read show the same steps.

Follow these, worked for me and haven't heard it not work for anyone else. Unless they need a case learn, but that's unlikely

Fixed !!! Well as it turns out I did not need to do the relearn, it was a mechanical error, I was pulling everything testing for the voltage leak pulled the fuel pump relay and didn't get it back in the right hole haha it started right up after that
Thanks everyone
