a while ago my resonator lost its heat shield and a couple months ago it blew a hole in the top of it. but i was wondering whats the circumference of the resonator. im hoping a exhaust band will close up the gap till i get around to fixing it

By triangulated, do you mean shape? It is centered. Apologies, the Dia of the resonator is 4" Rockauto has one for 58 bucks which includes the flange. I think the price went up 10 bucks or so.

Its round & probably rotted all along the top, cant really hold it off much.

I did mine a couple months ago & the "way overpriced resonator" had a 2 bolt flange off the converter, the other end was a 2 1/4" pipe. I found the right flange somewhere, Summit or Rock Auto, that you could just weld to a pipe & be good. All my stuff was welded after the resonator, so I put everything past the cat on new after looking at the prices.

I did bite the bullet & get a new resonator from Advance, just to be lazy. The resonator is nothing more than a Cherry Bomb with the 2 bolt flange on it. The pipe from the resonator to the muffler was only like $20-$30 from Advance, add in a cheap Summit muffler & a cool exhaust tip & your all set. Ya really need the tip, my Summit brand Flowmaster sounded like a 40 series Flowmaster till I put a tip on it!

Here are the Advance part numbers. Prices are after using the discount codes. Buy them online & use the discount codes, cant really beat the prices-

Resonator- walker Part No 21398 -$54.88
pipe from resonator to muff- Walker Part No 55270 - $26.49

*the Walker resonator doesnt fit into the Walker pipe very good. I had to use the tailpipe expander on it & then weld it to make sure it didnt leak. Go figure!

My resonator went from a small exhaust leak to a full blown pontoon boat in about a week...once they go, they go fast! 04 Impala with a 3.4 here.
