The diagram says it all. Reminds me of when I worked on my uncle's Buick. remove the 3 bolts hold the pump on and it'll come right off, after a little wiggling of the pressure/return lines a bit

yes indeed. It's even easier if you replace that plastic pulley with a nice metal one.

Ooh, a metal pulley Laughing I wanna do this to my car, get a nice gloss black metal pulley. I don't need it, but just because... ya know? Very Happy Now let the gloss black mods begin under my hood as well.... after I finish the exterior.....

I'm not quite sure what I want to do my 3.4. I've been focusing on the exterior and soon the interior so I haven't put much thought as to what should be done under the hood. Maybe just clean it up, I'm not fixing my Impala up for performance (if I had the 3.8 it'd be another story Laughing ) I'd like to see a couple of pics of your 3.4, think you could shoot em my way? pm maybe? might give me some ideas
I don't have an LS, I'm adding all the features an LS has, except for the sunroof, hence my sig, it's in progress Wink

Agreed on the modding of 3400 performance wise. I have 2 3400s and 3 3800s (one is supercharged).

I like the 3400. Solid engine (with new lower intake gaskets) I have been thinking doing a top swap since a have a 3500 engine (long story but the block is toast and it wasn't mine to begin with)

I like the 3800 and in my 04 Grand Prix gt I got 38 mpg from Mansfield Texas to Galveston with a stop in Houston on weathermen street.

I'll find some pics of the rebuilt 3400. Other than painting it/keeping it clean, that's about all the mods I would do.

Send some pics of your engine bay. Probably could use a hosing like mine

We may have high jacked thread but what the heck it was old I just wanted it to have an answer if someone else ever looked.

Anyway, what have you added? I've been adding gtp options to my gp gt. I've never really looked into doing something like that to the impala. Although I did get an rpm cluster

3 3800s huh? How does the supercharged one pull? haha. I have a 3.8 SC in my 98 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, but it has driveability issues that impede its full potential. I'll take a pic or two of my Imp's bay and pm them to you.
As for what I've added: black LS spoiler, black side rear view mirrors, door nameplate badges are going on soon, in the process of getting an LS bumper to fit the factory style fog lights I will be integrating, swapped in a 4 gauge LS cluster (RPM), also planning to add the driver information console (overhead center console with temp and direction) and looking for an LS seat swap so I can have rear fold down seats and front bucket seats.
These are just the factory add-ons/swaps I have done and will be doing. Still have a few more mods I did just for looks

00-05 Base Impalas were available with both engines, 3400 & 3800. LS was 3800 only, SS was 3800SC

Thanks for the info Pitch Black. I suppose I assumed 3800 was an auto Ls option.

I have front buckets and rear fold down seating atm. For that driver's information option, I guess you have to make a hole? Does it show anything else or is it just accompanied by lighting. I guess I have never seen it/noticed.

It does have a nice pull. It's in my Bonneville though

I've seen a post BBEngineer made that shows you how to install the driver information console. He sells the harness, provides a mounting template, the connector is already there. All you need to do is remove the headliner, which I've come to find out isn't that hard. I did this yesterday actually

Seems really cool!

I will look into that. My impala unfortunately got rear ended. The guy hit it on the right side right at the frame and damaged it. The caused my trunk to not close properly though I have manipulated it so it does. It has also cause my rear passanger door to stick. SO I won't be modding this car any time soon and when I get around to finding another Impala I'll see what options it has and go from there.

^^ It's just a shame. I have taken car of the car since 65k miles now it is around 140-145 (cluster shows 170-175k because I swaped it and never intended to get rid of it...I know it shows MORE miles lol but I don't care.) It still runs in top notch; I recently replaced the water pump <--- like doing it on this car more than the 3800.

So we don't hi-jack this thread too much more I have posted some pics reguarding the 3400 I worked on. It is in my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT and a link is here http://www.naioa.com/v2/module.....mp;t=49820
