apparently my outer tie rods have play.

that is what the tire shop said

they wanted 180$ to fix it
for both
I was checking the prices on the parts and they are fairly inexpensive so i may get it done soon

there is not much play on the steering wheel it's very minimal about 1cm of "play " before it starts to actually move the wheels. this doesn't concern me much.

it had much more play before I replaced a inner tie rod about a year ago

were they just trying to make money off me??

they even tried to up sell me to new tires as well..

You can't really accurately see how bad play in the tie rods are from the steering wheel - you need to jack the car up and wiggle the wheels and look at the tie rods, etc.

180 is cheap for a shop. Better to get them fixed than ruin tires

tie rods are fairly cheap

$13-16ea

I only expect labor to be 45$-90 at the most I get discount from my mechanic
he does not charge full hour rate for 1/2 hour work. I can get the aliment done locally.

This is on my list of things to do but not a high priority item

the radiator fan and cat are my high priority items at the moment
