2001 Chevrolet Impala

So I'm obviously going to mod my SS for performance.. Duh.

I'm doing the obvious, U-bend delete, colder plugs, 160 stat.

But the next things are, exhaust overhaul headers crossover cat back, then a pcm tune, and a pulley drop.

But what I wanna know, is kinda a vote. What company/brand does a better more reliable pcm tune, same thing with the exhaust components, and a pulley kit.

I'm looking at cost, ease of install, reliability. Ya know.

Lemme hear some honest opinions, thanks!

For 04+ W-Bodys Id go Overkill on the tune

Pullies, all about the same. Id go modular so you have the option to go smaller / larger as needed without the special tool

Exhaust. Up to you. I dont know much about headers, I didnt have them. As for the system. My DP was made by place that only did them and no longer around. The cat back was custom made by a shop. Only cost me like $400 vs $600-$1k for an aftermaket one.

My suggestions:

Headers- any brand (if you can afford name brand..go for it, if not get the SLP knock off design..this one is the speed daddy brand with the Y pipe already welded in to the rear header.

Cat-back is purely sound related and up to you

180* T Stat - whatever brand

Tune - People rag on a lot of brands. Overkill seems to be the top rated tune. I ran a ZZP tune before I bought my HPTuners and I loved it.

Intake (Wbody store or wizaird..basically any real Cold air intake..avoid K&N)

Pulleys...just like Pitch stated

Are you stopping there, or are you planning on modding past intake/tune/exhaust/3.4(or 3.5)?

Modding probably isn't a great idea...

That's why I'm not going extreme. Exhaust opened up, intake opened up. Nice tune for power when I need it. Just cuz it's fast doesn't mean Ya gotta kick it down every time ya start it!

Does anyone know how to get a hold of BBE? I need a replacement cluster.

I might do the first stage pulley drop. But I'm not going to do anything to run the risk of blowing up. Just enough to have an exciting drive home from time to time.

He is not. Hasn't been doing it for about a year and a half now.

Sad, I was hoping maybe he had one lying around stillII could buy of him. I'm sure the dealership would want an obscene amount.
