2005 Chevrolet Impala

I've had my Impala for almost 2 years now. 160,000 miles. I know the wires were original, but I didn't know about the plugs. So I got the parts at the local Chevy dealer, & had my friend who works there install them. No undoing the dog bones or anything. The plugs were original, & in surprisingly good shape. While the wires looked good, they crumbled when pulled from the plugs. Now, they're nice & new, but the car seems to run the same. Nice & smooth. I'm just amazed the car ran so smooth with 160,000 miles on the plugs, & that they looked so good with all the mileage. He flushed the coolant too, & I gave him $50. Thanks Tony. GARY

I think that's probably true of most things, but there are a few components that I bought for the Monte that were of better quality than OEM. The items that pop out in my mind immediately are the brake rotors (Centric) and suspension components (Moog).

ok let me clarify that, when you are comparing something like moog to duralast or part store brand then yes you will pay twice as much and it should last longer. what i was saying OEM vs parts store brand or duralast. but even spark plugs all brands didnt seam to last as long as OEM

The plugs were iridium, I pulled a set out that had 105k on them and showed them to a friend who was an ASE master mechanic for 10+ years. I asked him how many miles he thought were on the plugs...he said 15-20k maybe. Iridium is such a better material than platinum.

not bashing your friend or ase techs but any idiot can take the test even when i worked at autozone they offer a test just to say they have ase cert parts guys. i never took it and the older mangers did. then they got pissed one day when i told them how much i was making as a part time red shirt. it was over a dollar more than the full time mangers with ase certs. i would of got more but me and the currant store manager didnt like each other. so i ended up giving my two weeks. and to put the nail in the coffin the manager after i left put in my paperwork and said he fired me. then he tried to hire me back while he was talking to me about it he says "since im the one that fired you, im the only one that can rehire you" i about went off on the guy. but i just laughed at him and walked out
