Man I gotta get a friggin Vette! How do you like it, as far as just a toy or summer cruiser? The wheels, huge improvement.
I've been drooling over one locally here but afraid I'll go nuts & spend more time throwing "go fast" goodies at it vs just enjoying it.
I love it. You can pick them up for under 15K like I did if you search enough. The car is fast enough that I dont want to do any mods to it. Parts are too expensive to be adding go fast parts. I only drive it once a week as a weekend toy which is fine by me. Actually thinking of selling mine to buy a house but I just cant seem to let her go.
Thanks! I've been looking at 97ish Vettes with the pop up headlights, not sure what gen that is but the prices are cheap near me right now. I've learned to not wait!
Heres a pic of one thats keeping me up at night. Only 9K for it, 145K miles, 6 speed (replaced under warranty), a little beat on but not abused. Paint looks great, just needs things like tires/brakes & a good detail. Chances are I'd put a ton of hard miles on it & throw every go-fast part I could afford at it, so its better to start with a base car.
You have one, what is an area I should be looking at very close? I'd do a title search (Carfax or whatever) & crawl all around it, but Vettes are tricky
I'm lucky that my car has less than 60,000mi. I heard they start to burn oil at higher mileage. I suggest joining the forums and doing your homework there. It would also be a good idea to find one as stock as possible. Don't wanna waste time fixing someone elses mess. Common issues with the C5 include, oil pressure gauge pegged due to switch malfunction, center console door stuck, headlights not popping up, and hvac lighting inop. I suggest pulling any codes even if the light isn't on. This can be done by:
1. Turn ignition to on but do not start
2. Press reset to clear any messages
3. Press and hold options and press fuel 4 times within 10 seconds
The car is lowered on stock bolts to the max. I like the look of the front but the rear needs to be lowered more.
That picture you posted is the wheels that I wanted. CCW SP500s! But theres now way Im spending $800 per wheel. The wheels I installed were the closest things I could find to imitate the SP500S
