My car seems to be too old, but maybe someone here will know something.

I have a 1978 Impala 4 door. After a bit of fighting, I managed to get the headliner out so I can replace the fabric. I cracked the board a bit, but I think I can reinforce it with something and put it back together, so I'm not too worried about that. My question is, how does it go back in? I'm thinking that removing the front seat might be the best choice, but I'm wondering if anyone else has done it and what their secret method might have been.

Also, a more audio-related question. Since my bare metal ceiling is now exposed while I get fabric and fix the headliner, should I consider installing something like dynamat on the metal, or does the foam/fabric dampen that enough. I'm not running real high wattage (2x450RMS), but someday I might want more power and the ceiling happens to be exposed now making the install pretty easy. Let me know your thoughts.

it should fit through the door with a bit of a fight. Removing the front seats should give you more room

As for adding something like Dynamat, its a no brainer. Even without a system or any audio, it will quiet down the interior a lot.

Im doing the interior in the Monte now and am using R-Blox. Every metal surface will be covered and I dont even have a radio in the car.
