Anybody ever replace the radiator support? I noticed that the front valence was hanging down and took a closer look. Turns out most of the metal minus the corners that the radiator and condenser sit on is gone. Looks like this is going to be a long weekend job, and its spot welded in so on the positive side I get to buy some spot weld bits. I can get an aftermarket one from rockauto for 76 bucks or an oem for 160, so its not a break the bank type of deal.

Yeah, I know. But I paid my dues & spent 18 years in Canada where I owned a few hot rods that turned into piles of rust after 3 winters. Got smart, & parked my ride & drove a beater during the winter. But slowly I'm turning into an "old guy" myself. LOL. GARY

Haha, I was slapping in my cold air induction & kept looking at my core support saying "where did all thast rust come from??!!" I did the cheap "sand, primer, Duplicolor rattle can fix" for now. Time will tell if its worth fixing right!

I need to do my radiator suppport too. If you buy the whole support, is it a welded in piece or bolted in?

It's welded in...the service manual says that it is plug welded - not spot welded.

I took a quick peek and there are a ton of welds that need to be drilled out. I can't see if the new part has all of the holes pre-punched. That could take some time.

Mine was only really rusty at the bottom underneath the radiator. Ended up cutting out the rusty bit and welding in that section from the new support. Much easier than trying to replace the entire thing.
