My resonator has developed a small crack along the seam, can anyone tell me what the outer diameter of the exhaust pipe is, I was going to put in a pipe instead of a resonator.

Looking for the outer diameter so I know what I.D. pipe to get.

Thank You!

confirmed it's 2.25" OD.

I replaced the resonator 5-6 years ago on the wifeys '03 Imp with a piece of straight pipe and it was a bit of a pain. I cut the flange off the back of the cat pipe ( 2 good milwakee sawsall blades couldn't get thru, I ended up using a grinder and cutoff wheel ). To put it together I used the same 2.25 size pipe and 2 stainless band clamps to hold it together ( like $50 in parts and an hour or so screwing around ).

The damn straight pipe rotted out in 2 years. Ended up I bought another resonator for $60, but because of the earlier hack job I had to cut the flange off the new resonator and re-use the band clamps.

Funny the rest of the exhaust incl muffler is still fine.

Knowing what I do now I should have just replaced the resonator for $ 60.00 + the cost of 4 flange bolts and a $ 1.50 exhaust ubolt for the back end and be done in under 30 mins.

Good luck !

Thanks guys, I'm leaning towards getting a resonator since I think it'll last longer as and less hacking. The rest of the car / exhaust is mint.
