Got the oil change @ PepBoys for $50 with a royal purple 10-47 filter.
The car is right @ 45K,and I was wondering what you guys think my next change interval should be.I had been changing it every 3000 miles with conventional.

Thanx for any feedback.

Thats a super cheap price for Royal Purple, nice!

I'm still doing 3,000 mile conventional oil changes so my opinion is nothing, but have you checked out the "Bob the oil guy" site? Heres a link-

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

I did enough reading there to run away from the orange Fram filters & will only go with the yellow Purolator Pure One filters. I actually do see a oil pressure increase in my 300K Dodge Ram using these so thats all I use in everything (for now). Anyway, good info & real world tests on that site Wink

Damn, I usually spend around $60 changing it myself with RP and Mobile 1 m1-201 filter. This intrigues me.

I change it every 5-7k miles seems like a rip off changing it more often
unless you are towing stuff with this car then 5-7k is fine but I do use full synthetic

Royal Purple is not available anywhere it's considered a specialty item around here and if it is available it's $9-$10 a qt or $45 5qt...

If you are using RP 10-15 should be no issue, the main thing with extended drain intervals is remembering to check the oil. I personally use Mobil 1 EP (just because its super inexpensive like 25 bucks at wally world for a 5 quart jug) and change it after 2 oil change lights. Meaning the 1st change engine oil light gets reset and the filter changed and then fluid gets topped off, and the 2nd light the who thing gets changed. I have 160k on the impala, been doing this since 30k when I got the car, and have done this in mom's car, which is a rondevouz with the 3.4L since brand new and it now has 220k on it with zero issues.

I literally just got done putting Royal Purple 5w30 in my engine. I usually like to change once every 3,000 miles. I have 132,000 miles on my Impala with no problems. Runs real smooth. Very Happy

Availability, RP only at speed shops here and they are way overpriced on everything. Local shops carry M1 or get it for me when I make the appointment. The Chrysler gets regular dino oil, like 7 qts. in there. Gets changed every 2K just because thats about 6 months of driving for me. I average 4500 per year on the car

That kind of sucks. Here I can get RP at any Autozone, O'Reillys , etc..
