Hey everyone, haven't been on in awhile. Unfortunately, this past Friday I hit some Ice and 360'ed into oncoming traffic and collided with a CRV. I am completely fine as was everyone in the other car. My driver's side rear collide with their passenger front. Broke their axle, shattered a window and set off some air bags. I had enough damage for the insurance to total it out ( I had 168000 on the clock).

I was planning on getting something this year anyway, but I hate for the Super Sweetness (horrible nickname) to go out like that, she was a great car.

With that said, I'm in the SUV market. I've got two little ones to schelp around now. For a multitude of reasons I have narrowed it down to 2011ish GMC Acadia SLT, AWD, or a 2009 Acura MDX Technology. If anyone has any first hand experience with either of them and would like to share some thoughts I would appreciate it.

Thanks everyone.

I'm glad everyone was all right. Ice can make things scary. Shocked

Glad you're okay brother...

Acura.. Its a Honda. That's what I would chose. I had a friend that had one. No issues mechanically from it, and it was a nice vehicle too.

Thanks everyone, I was having a tough time deciding whether or not to get rid of the imp. It was starting to nickle and dime me a little bit- and idler pulley, hub, leaking oil pan, but there were still plenty of days that I really enjoyed driving the car. Guess my decision was made for me.

I drove one Acadia last night, it was pretty nice, but had a few issues. One thing that I've found is that the direct injection engines will produce a good amount of soot in the exhaust without proper maintenance and quality products. I have no problem with that, but need to consider whether or not the previous owners shared that same sentiment.

The Acadias are pretty nice, there are two at my office and the owners love them.

Just like any other vehicle, Acadia's could possibly have many problems. Get an extended warranty if your unsure. Best advise would be to check out an Acadia / Traverse / Enclave / Outlook forum and see what they say.

I worked the parts counter for a GMC dealer when the Acadia was released. What a POS. It was released before it was ready, & the first buyers were beta testers. Many problems with the seats, & the parts needed to repair them were back ordered for months. Spac cases didn't help. Owners were pissed. I guess they got it worked out now. GARY

My sister, who lives in Vermont, has a 2010 Acadia and adores it. She is definitely NOT a car person, but she will talk about how much she loves to drive her Acadia. It has close to 90k on it now, I think, and according to her, she's never had any major problems.

For what it's worth...

I see that with every car, never buy a 1st year release, if you do, consider yourself a beta tester like Gary says

I'll agree with that 100%

I drove a 2011 MDX yesterday. Completely destroyed the Acadia in everything, but cargo space and seating. Better better engine, tranny, ride, handling, tehcnology... wasn't even close IMO. We went to a snow covered abandoned parking lot and I couldn't get the tires to come loose. Nice car. Didn't pull the trigger yet, got two more to check out.

The MDX are nice looking cars. Plus you can't go wrong with a Honda. Big Thumbs Up

Not really, I didn't take anything off the car... Guess I should have taken off the jmb intake, but I didn't know it was totaled when I saw it last. Only things I have are a nib rear timken hub from rock auto, just bought was planning to return unless someone needs it. I also have a stock air box, and ss engine cover.

NEW CAR!!! Picked up a certified 2011 acura mdx technology with 57k on the clock. Also, the mdx is 9 inches shorter than the impala, that's crazy.
