Well that looks ugly. What happened (besides the obvious)?

Honestly, not entirely sure yet.

I filled the car up with gas, turned out of the gas station and got to 2800-3000 rpms, tires spun (not sure why since it was dry out)..all of the sudden i heard a pop and when i hit the gas again it just revved.

I was instantly pissed, pulled over and it just started gushing trans fluid. Thankfully i was 5 blocks from home so got a 2500 silverado and some chain and i dragged it home and checked it out.

Trans was rebuilt in march and its only got 5 or 6k miles on it but the parta list didnt say anything about the diff.

I called the shop today and it sounds like they will be warrantying it. I asked since the list said nothing about the diff being touched, but he said "well have to look at it and see what caused it, but the differential is part of the trans since its fwd, so it might be covered."

Either way, i will be getting out of the 3800 world. My dad is buying his friends newer camry, so im picking up his corolla. KBB on it is 6g but im buying a house soon so to help me out he is giving it to me for 2grand. Its no racecar but its a reliable work car aince i now drive like 5k miles a year for work. So thatll let me avoid a car payment for a few years and once i get a house and settle in ill be buying a project/toy car. Either going to be an old muscle car or poasibly a supra...but thats probably 2 years away.

The diff is considered a "hard part" so if it looks OK during the rebuild, it goes back in the trans. I used to work at a GMC HD truck dealer, & I've seen grenaded diffs from huge trucks. Your's is nothing compared to what I've seen. GARY
