My battery light came on today with a P1585 code. Can someone tell me what it is?

It's the inhibit signal circuit in the cruise control. There is improper voltage on the line or a bad cruise control module. According to the diagnostic it could potentially also be caused by a bad PCM, but that is probably pretty rare.

Check the wiring and failing that, consult a service manual. Wink

Changed the battery. I had a couple wierd codes that had to do with low circuit and disappeared after new battery. Batterys do wierd things in these cars.

I fail to see the plus side of Optimas unless you are running lots of electronics, and even then...

The battery costs a lot more, the warranty is only for three years, and it has less CCA than a traditional high end battery.

I have an optima red top, the battery light has not come back on since original post. Reads a steady 14.1 - 14.2. Seems fine.

I gave up on Optima, you can get so much better for so much less

i have a red top in my 94 chevy. i got it back in 2004 i think when i worked at autozone. guy brought it in and was pissed at it (cause it was dead) traded it in on a core charge.

so i put her on the trickle charger and shes still in my 94 to this day. so its over 10 years old. it was pretty beat up when i got her so i really dont know its age but it certainly wasnt new or newish. granted i dont think ill fork over that much for a battery but i cant knock them
