LS4 Engine with 4T80-E (FWD)transmission? seems to be a better option then fixing the gaskets on the current engine.

since that will cost 1100 not including the other issues with the engine.

cost is mostly labor rather the the cost of the parts
can it be done?

basically a minor rebuild of the engine.

Will it drop in perfectly? No. Can anything be done? Yes. Unless you already have all the necessary tools and knowledge/experience to custom fab, weld, and electric knowledge... Then your looking at a hefty bill.

A guy, from this board, Did this about 3 years ago, But he had an Entire Totaled 06 SS to take the drive train from, including Cradle, misc. parts, Computers, Wiring Dash and Guages out of to put in his 05 Base Impala

Took him several Months to do with the help of other friends that were not sure how to graft the Wiring all together.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii-VUW8DYbc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rehgi2mF534

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhmkaFdV3DM

He took a lot of crap from people on this board for doing it, because he was not too detailed in how it was done.
He had some issues with airbag light because ( I believe) the donor car had more airbags and newer seat belt tensioners than the 05 Target car.

It can be done, but it is not a Cheap swap, and takes some skill to pull it off.

I don't like the 06 to 13 model looks like crap other wise I would just get that. same god damn model for 8 years in a row yes I know it was popular for fleet vehicles but no changes from 06 to 13

it could gotten a face lift in that time

He caught a lot of flack because he was talking it up like he did all the work himself and go caught in the act when he couldn't answer simple questions that someone who actually got their hands dirty would have immediately known the answer to.

Probably shouldn't be attempting this project then.

^ Ah. There's an idea to build on. I'd look for a L67 engine/tranny combo before going bankrupt on an 5.3 swap.

Well, that's 90k unknown miles. You already know what's been done to your current ride. I'd would still build from that personally. But then again, I haven't been keeping tabs on your other thread, so I have no idea what's wrong with it. LOL

Dunno.. you didn't link pics or any other info. I CAN tell you that the crackhead dealers around here would list said 90k-mile Indy for double that though. IDK that they sell 'em for those prices, but some suckers must come along every now and then to buy 'em and keep them listing more for absurd prices.

edit: Oh now I see you said it needs a couple grand worth of work...
What kind of work?

01 LS with 58k miles Shocked

http://losangeles.craigslist.o.....53774.html

I know the SS requires premium fuel. difference is very minimal to what i all ready pay for gas
as long as I can get 22city/25+ highway I'll be fine.

Boy those headlights & fog lights are in need of attention/replacement. Wonder how the rest of the car is.

Headlights again. CA sun hard on those? Bummer no Indy wheels.
Well, IDK how old you are so this may or may not be something you care about... Myself though, when I see ads where the aftermarket stereo system is listed before most anything else, I skip that car right away and move along. To me that flags it as being owned by some idiot kid who more than likely cares more about spending $$ on presenting his music more than the well being of the actual car. I realize that's prolly not the case all the time and one can have a nice system AND take care of their car too (plenty of people on here I'd wager)... but 9 times out of 10 on vehicles for sale that's just not the case in my experience, around here at least. YMMV in that situation.

Now that one someone looks to have either taken care of or possibly spent a good chunk of time buffing on the car, finish looks great in those pics. Not personally a fan of that god awful grille and the wheels aren't my thing, but those are easy to swap out if that's the case. Exh tips are 'meh' too, but again that's cosmetic and changeable and my own personal taste, maybe you like that stuff, IDK. The interior seems clean too, I notice no driver's side/seat pic though. 1-supposid owner and a private-party seller... Hell if that car was near me when I was looking, it would have been on my list to check out.

"Joe" uses too many of these in his ad -->> !!!! <-- But that prolly doesn't have much to do with the car Wink. IDK if I trust that "58k". Headlights tell a different tale... unless every Impala in CA that sits outside in the sun (assuming) has headlights like that w/in 59k? I'd look closely at other things on that one too, to see if it's on par for a 60k mile car I guess.

has a funny plate
REL=
Recommended Exposure Limit, Laughing
4REALZ this car is a zero! Is that what the plate is indicating Question
Yeah IDK. That one you really may be buying someone else's problems. 60k engine... okay, got proof of that? Who did the engine swap? A reputable shop or a friend of a friend's buddy who wrenches on cars on the side after working at the grocery store. If the engine checks out.. how about that trans? If it's managed to make it to 170k w/out work on it, guess where some money may be spent in the near future Wink. It all may be fine, you'd just have to use your best judgement I guess. I myself get leery about cars that have "Just replaced engine"s and are up for sale shortly after. Looks like a tail light upgrade was done at least.
I'm not trying to be a or anything, just giving you my 2 Cents, and that may be all it's worth to you too (if that), who knows Wink

Very rare here in California to see a older car with good looking headlights
except if the car uses glass headlights or it's a newer car less then 3 year old

my dad replaced his in 2011,after 5 years of use they were fogged up and discolored.

even my are fogged up heavily pitted (even though they look great in photos).

when my dad had the 00 impala it was starting to get fogged up even though
it was 3 years old

it had 160k miles on that car before he traded it in.
it still had the original engine/transmission with no work done to them.
He did take very good care of it.

Tell it was wreaked by him falling a sleep at the wheel it had very minimal damage (about 5.5k to 6k worth of damage.)

he was putting 53.3k miles a year on that car.(daily commuting)
