Putting my Black 02 Impala LS up for sale in my local market.
Sold my boat and parked a Black 2010 CTS4 in the garage yesterday!
I wish to extend a huge Thank You to everyone who has given me advice or helped me in any fashion with the maintenance/modification of my Impala!
Everyone here has been terrific but it is time to move to another forum!

Again, it has been great meeting you all and thank you all for your wisdom and friendship!

Roger

Nice car, I often think about replacing the Impala with a Black CTS... only problem is the manuals are so hard to come by.

I looked into both CTS-V and STS-V before buying the 300. I love the styling of the Caddys

i thought about the CTS as well before i bought the 2012 impala. was not worth it for me, i needed something newer with less miles. the impala had less than 30 and the CTSs i was looking at were around 60K miles. I put 20k since december on it.

its been almost 10 years since my last RWD car. i miss rwd.

Alan

Does this have the 3.6L V6? My moms got an 2005 and had to have the engine replaced at 70,000 miles because of a timing chain issue. Apparently, its a common issue.

I haven't followed terribly close, but there are a few power levels on the 3.6L, not sure if they're different mechanically or just tuned differently. One of the wife's coworkers got about 250k on her 3.6L CTS before the timing chain went and the motor had to be replaced. Hers was also an early-mid 00's model, maybe the 3.6 has been improved. I hope so... GM has been throwing it into everything and if timing chains start failing, the general's reputation is going to suffer big time.

They look good enough that I'd still consider one with the 306hp 3.6L and a 6 speed manual, If I found one in black at the right price.

I imagine on a Caddy it's a chain.

No idea, I'm sure I could ask the person I know who lost a motor to it... but if it's a known issue, I'd probably swap it out with a new one, or some improved version if one existed.
