Hey guys;

So I just got my '12 Impala LT a couple months ago, drove it from Edmonton, AB to Niagara Falls, ON. On the way to Ontario I noticed what I thought was a clicking coming from my steering column. I've since determined that its actually a bad creak from the driver seat. It only happens whenever I'm turning the car as my weight shifts in the seat. Now I'm not a big guy (200-210) and I got the car at 36000Km so theres no way the seat should be worn out. It almost sounds like a bad spring or something is rubbing. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm bringing it into the dealership tommorow to hopefully get it fixed under warranty but I was hoping someone else has had this issue so I can tell the technician what to look for. Thanks!!

I had it for a long time, thought it was a squeak in the center console. Ended up being the driver's seat... I think it's the joint where the back of the seat meets the bottom of the seat, but eventually it went away on it's own.

If the dealer can't figure yours out, I'd suggest some sort of penetrating oil to spray on that joint in the seat - just be sure to put newspaper or plastic all over the place so you don't get oil on the carpeting.

So my dealer is a bunch of idiots, they had the vehicle for almost 8 hours and couldn't replicate the sound, I drove it off the lot for 5 minutes and the sound came back. Nextt time I'm taking one of the technicians with me for a drive cause this is really annoying me.....

When the car is fixed, could you post what was done to fix it? I would like to avoid the same problem at my dealer. Thank you.

Sure can, but I'm going to try what Lingenfelter suggested first, I'll update this thread either way.
