I wondered about the highest mileage which can be displayed on the trip odometers on my 09 before they automatically reset to zero miles.

I guessed 999.9 but that was wrong as the displayed mileage continued to climb over time beyond 999.9, 1999.9, 2999.9, etc.

Well today I reached the mileage which automatically reset the trip odometer back to 0 miles.

The trivia question is.........what is the maximum mileage displayed before the trip odometer automatically resets itself to zero?

9999.9?

I've let mine run up to maybe 4000 once, but never seen how high it would go.

All depends on how many digits it displays.

I'll guess 9999.9 but could be 99999.9 if it can display 6 digits.

I believe it rolls back to zero after 5999.9

It's definitely not 9999.9

Correct! After 5999.9 it then resets back to 0.

Interesting that GM has the miles displayed reset at 6000 miles. Perhaps because this country is approximately 3000 miles wide?

maybe they dont expect it to make it to 6K without needing a major repair which would end up resetting the trip anyway

Maybe intended to be used as oil change interval? That's how I always intend to use mine, although I always reset it before it gets to oilchange time.

Mine is in KM and it is at the moment past 8600 km or so and still going. I have not set to miles to see what it does. Yet.

I'd guess 9999.9, which was my original guess (kilometres)
