Today I noticed a loud whine coming from under the car by the gas tank. I assume its from the fuel pump.

I havent driven the car in 6 months. I was on military deployment. My wife drove it a few times while I was gone but thats about it.

In the last week or so, I noticed some throttle lag. As is the car doesnt have the power/pep that I remember. Could this be related to the fuel pump?

My gut feeling is my fuel pump is going out causing the throttle issues. Is there anything else I should check?

If you fill the tank before you left that's probably your problem (old gas). The fuel pump can be loud if you listen for it, but it's not something that I ever notice when the car is running unless I'm listening for it.

I would start by running through the gas that's in it, fill up with fresh premium, and see if your problem goes away. Gas doesn't last nearly as long as it used to with all the ethanol in it these days.

How many miles on that fuel filter?
The pump could be straining to push fuel through it.

I had already filled up twice before noticing the whine, so I dont think it was the old gas.

I have about 40k on the filter, I had it changed out a few years ago just for the heck of it.

When I heard the whine, I left the car running when I got out of the car. That was the only way I noticed it.

Today however, it was silent when I checked.

If the fuel level is low, the fuel pump can be louder.

Was the whine with a full fuel tank?
