I just bought a DVR-027 on ebay, it was about $59 and came from China.
I've been wanting one for quite sometime, partly to cover my A$$ in an accident or just to catch some of the crazy driving I see daily on the Northside of Milwaukee.

Based on this article in Jalopnik:
http://jalopnik.com/this-is-th.....-475625317

As stated in the article, it can take up to a 32GB SD card (purchased seperately) and it has cyclical recording so when the card fills up it starts recording over the oldest files.
I have it set to turn on with motion sensing since the Impala constantly provides power to the lighter outlets.

It's been a great purchase so far, the video is clear and crisp, the audio is pretty good to hear my in-car road rage.

Here's a quick clip I posted on youtube:
http://youtu.be/lgaPl0_r12o

I'm looking to find a decent FREE video editor just so I can cut the length of videos, I don't need to do anything flashy or special. I used the youtube video editor for this one but it takes quite awhile to upload and cut the video, I'd like something local.
I also wonder if anyone uses a better video posting site than youtube for sharing if I do happen to get something interesting.

I've been debating it. That footage looks pretty clean, especially compared to all the russian dashcam footage that Jalopnik loves to broadcast so much.

It keeps crashing on my version, I still have XP, I might try the newer version see if that's any better. I really just looking for something simplier than that just so I can cut videos, I don't need all the other features.

Just becareful, there are alot of fakes out there that look just like this one, read the article to help spot the differences.

Really can't help with what software to use but check out cnet. They usually have real good programs to download such as that and tend to have many good reviews by their staff and real end users.

Think the addy is download.cnet.com or something like that.

I've been using my old GoPro Hero 1 for the last 2 years, it's worked well as a dashcam for me.

Bonus points for remaining calm. If that was me there would have been a string of four letter words following an experience like that. Laughing

Yes but the fact the other car was full of gang members may have had something to do with keeping calm. Laughing

In a thread about a year ago or so someone had the same question and I posted a clip from my dash cam but I can't find the thread. The search isn't finding it. I dubbed the theme from Mannix onto it. I have a cheap ebay unit but the resolution is good.
