Hey all, great site
Lots of great info here, its going to take a while to look through it all but thanks anyways.
I bought a 04 Impala (3.4) from my dad. He was retiring & wanted to buy a new car, he offered me a great deal, plus I needed a more reliable daily driver so I jumped on it. She's not the most awe inspiring ride but she'll get the job done. 160K, runs perfect, silver, blends in with traffic well It didnt really "need" anything but I'm a car-nut & cant leave anything alone, so I've been toying around with it. No hopes of making the 3.4 a "500 horse fire breathing monster", so I've been tinkering around with suspension & plan on brakes soon. Just trying to make it a more fun ride I guess! Replaced most of the suspension already, brakes & wheel/tire combos are next on the list. Looking at braided brake hoses, better rotors & maybe a larger caliper swap if theres one out there. Also looking to swap the boring gauge cluster with one from a Monte as soon I find one. The DRL are about the most annoying thing ever invented, thats got to go..... The only other ride at the moment is my rusty trusty 300K Dodge Ram beast.
Me, I;ve been a longtime member/mod at Mad Mikes 2nd Gen Camaro Owners Group - NastyZ28 Dot com, also on Club GP (Grand Prix's) and Dodgetalk, Chevytalk, Smokemup, ect. I'm a dragracer really, just sold the last Camaro (80Z28) a few years ago to find a new project but the right one didnt come along. I tinkered with a 85 Monte SS but it just didnt fit so i sold it to a buddy. I was looking for the perfect 90-91 Z28 but its hard to find a decent one. Heck, I even tried a oddball Dodge Challenger but, nah. In between I helped my neighbor a little with his 92 Grand Prix. FWD 3.8 running a pretty impressive low 12 wasnt too bad. I was one of the first members of the NMCA, racing a 72 Camaro in the 1990's. My greatest claim to fame there was driving the car to the track, going a few rounds & losing to the great Gary Rohe's baby blue Mustang Back then everybody lost to Rohe...Mike Moran & of course Big Daddy are my idols & Morans "Casper" 4th gen Camaro is my favorite car-ever. It still runs at Milan Dragway's friday night heads up races-15 years past its prime & cool as ever! Rod Saboury built a 63 Vette thats got to be a close #2 but doesnt have the history that Casper does.
I have ran across BBEngineers site & it does show as closed I'm new here so I'm not going to bug him, but hopefully I will get bored (& annoyed enough!) with the DRL's & find another cheap solution. If so i will share it.
