Hey all!

I've got a weird noise coming from somewhere within the engine compartment and so far 2 different mechanics haven't been able to figure it out.

1.) The noise appears to be coming from the front passenger wheel area and is not dependent on forward motion, as it will occur with the vehicle in park and the passenger side of the vehicle at a higher elevation than the driver side.

2.) Noise only occurs during right turns, not left.

3.) Noise is constant (not relative to engine RPM or wheel revolution).

Basically it sounds like sticking your finger into a window fan on low speed, and one of the 3/4 blades of the fan is making contact with that finger.

It doesn't appear to be harming the vehicle in any way, just d#@m annoying!

Any suggestions what it might be??

TIA!

Video? Does it only happen at maximum turning angle?

Since it doesn't rely on forward motion or tire rotation, I'm thinking power steering pump - though I would normally expect it to happen at maximum left turning angle as well.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Noise begins as soon as the wheel is turned.

I hadn't considered the PS pump, my thoughts were lead to one of the gears possibly on the starter...

If I can I'll post up a video clip with, hopefully, decent audio, as hearing it might help diagnosis.

I had my power steering pump replaced about 6k miles ago so it relatively new.. happens at almost any turning angle when doing a right.
seems to do it most of the time when braking simultaneously I think it maybe the driver side brake caliper.

I would be leaning towards engine cradle bolts loose or intermediate steering shaft needs greased up or replaced.

more then like it's a loose bolt Sad damn going to cost a arm and a leg to get it fixed Sad since It was not doing that before.. getting the transmission pulled

I'll have it checked out I do not want the car to get damaged.

it also happens when going over dips as well

Lower ball joint bolt, the bolt was just barely on. Got it tighten up now , No more popping noise when making turns.
