Traded in the 04 SS today and picked up this 2012 LTZ. I love the new car. I will be starting a small demodding sale thread from the 04.

Congratulations! Cool

These cars still look sharp and clean! I do have to say I much prefer the black grille to the new "plasticy-gray" one on lesser 2012s.

Thanks for the link to the emblems I couldn't seem to find any.

Here are a few new pics, beautiful weather today so I washed it.

The only weird thing I noticed going from the 04 SS to this is these new 6 speed transmissions seem to shift like a standard...just slow. Or maybe I just got a bad transmission, oh well its under warranty. I know somebody with a 2011 that just had the transmission fail at less than 40k.

Also, does anybody else notice a high pitched ringing noise with the cluster lighting? The brighter I set the cluster lighting the louder it gets.

Haven't noticed the high pitch in my 06... The 6 speed that failed I found out was a supplier batch gone bad... It's fixed now. I'm aware the shifting time on these 6 speeds is SUPER slow, but should adjust if your used to having a heavy foot... Oh btw can I trade you wheels???? PLEASE! LMAO I love those wheels compared to the ones I have which is the singe 5 spokes.

I wonder if I can snag that grille online and swap mine out... I agree the previous grille sucks as you can see below

I wonder what the part numbers are for all of those grille pieces... Time to PM ZSPOT Very Happy

I don't know anything about the whining noise you're hearing. The 2012 LT Rental I had for six months last year never made any such noise.

I do remember the tranny being a little laggy though—not really being in the right gear when you needed it there. That sounds similar to what you're talking about. I wonder if anyone is tuning these transmissions yet?

AFAIK Will Overkill is only doing 2006-2010 for the 3.5 L V6 and, 2006-2011 for the 3.9 V6

Does anyone know if the 00-05 9c1 wheels will fit the 2012s? I have a set from the SS I kept but they are 16" and as far as I know the 2006+ police package use 17"

I have a 2011 LT with 3.5, fortunately Overkill shows the 2011 Impala with 3.5 by opening the 3500 link on the website.

They should since I've seen the new ss wheels on a 00-05 impala on here. The suspension for the new impala and old Impala is the same AFAIK

the slow trans is not bad. my brothers malibus 6 speed was waaayyy slower. i hated it, to me the impalas 6 speed is much faster. still took me a while to get used to. at first i was missing my 4 speed i had in the monte carlo.

someone on imala forums tuned their 6 speed and got good results. but i do so much driving (about 100 miles a day) that i dont want to mess with the MPG too much

In case anyone is wondering, the 00-05 specific subwoofer enclosures fit the new models nicely Very Happy

Also, a relative was recently at the dealer where I traded in my SS. It sold shortly after I got my LTZ. Apparently it was brought back two days after the new owner bought it. He beat the hell out of it and ended up blowing the engine so he has it back there to get a new engine put in Laughing On one hand, it sucks. On the other, oh well!

I'm more worried about clearing the front calipers. The factory wheels are 18", two inch drop to 16 might be too small. I guess I will just have to try fitting them one of these days before winter rolls around. The tires on my 9C1 set only have about 200 miles on them.

Edit: They do fit with probably about 5mm of space between the caliper and wheel, and an added 1/2" of wheel well gap Surprised

Well after only having the LTZ for a few months I traded it back in. I got into deer hunting a few years ago and moved onto bigger game this year. The impala wasn't exactly "strap a deer/bear/moose-to friendly" and parts of the year makes 4-wheel drive a must to get to our hunting camps. So here it is, 2013 Silverado 1500 WT.
