I bought some kenwood KFC 1620 6.5 speaker.... The screw holes on the new speakers dont match up with the screw holes on the factory speakers. Anybody have an idea how to install them properly? Thanks.

Place new speaker in door. Drill new pilot holes. Put in screws. Cool

this, or use self-tapping screws.

i used self tapping screws and the job was almost effortless. I liked it because i didnt have to line up the pilot holes and the new screw. Just slapped in onto the stock plastic housing and mounted my new speakers with the self tappers

I did the exact same thing, although I had to trim the basket on my speakers a little to get them to fit the housing...

Thanks for the help. The factory mount seems pretty unique and mounts flush seems like it might provide better sound quality. The speakers I got aren't really flush with that mount even with tapping screws. I guess that's what ill have to do. Oh yeah my 2001 ls has stock tweeters, I was siprised. Only reason I bought new speakers was I was buying speakers for a friend with a best buy gift card and had exactly enough money left over for 6.5s.

got lucky, i had several problems with my Install....i bought some 6.5 hybrid audio imagines....the basket was way too big to trim the stock bracket without it breaking apart let alone the screws would not mount correctly, i bought some mdf and made speaker rings....drilled through my inner door and bolted the ring to the door....then mounting the speaker to the ring
