2005 Chevrolet Impala

I have a 2005 Impala 9C3 car, & I want to install my 2 way radio in the car. I've read where there's wiring in the car under the dash on the pass side for this purpose. If I try to put my hand under the pass side carpet w/o removing it, I can feel a huge wiring harness there, but I'm afraid to pull on it & screw things up. However, I recently saw a wrecked similar 9C1 at the local U-Pick, & the carpet was gone, & there was the wiring I needed. So does anyone know if that huge harness under the carpet is what I need, & is it safe to try to pull it out from under the carpet? By the way, the car has 12 volts in the trunk to mount a trunk mounted radio, but my radio is a small 1 piece unit. GARY

There is/was a power drop in the passenger footwell at some point (might have been gone by 2005 though). Take a look at the info here and then poke around under your dash and see if it's there.

I just went down with a flashlight & that panel came off real easy. It's obviously been off before. The wire was there, & yes, that's the wire that goes under the carpet. I didn't see the connector, but it's probably wrapped with electrical tape. I'll look again tomorrow when the sun is up. Thanks. GARY

In my 9c1 there was a thick black wire that was constant negative, a thick red wire that was constant positive, and a thick green wire that was positive that only was on when the key was in the "ON" position. That should get you where you're going.
