My remote fob only works within about 10ft I've put a new battery in the fob and for a few days I got maybe 20ft out of it but I'm assuming it should go a lot farther then that? Anyone have any suggestions

A lot depends on where the receive antenna is placed in the car. On my GF's 06 Monte Carlo, she can use the clicker from 50' while in front of the car, but when she's behind the car, she needs to be 2' away, or it won't work. GARY

From what I've looked at the receiver is on the dash under the defogger grill. Is there a external antenna on it or is it all built in?

If it makes you feel better, my VW fob only works at like 10 feet with a brand new battery. I hear a lot of fob complaints at work, I think the reality is that the transmitters wear out, buttons wear out, nothing lasts forever. GM fobs look like Sega controllers inside, and you were lucky if you got a year out of those before B didn't work when you were a kid. If they wanted it to last, they would have used microswitches.
