I want to get a new engine for my 02 impala. But i'll admit I'm a little ignorant in that department. I would like something bigger and faster as I have a 3.8 v6. Any suggestions as to what to get and where to look?

only real option is to get a 3.8 supercharged motor. People have installed the LS4 5.3L V8 into these cars, but its no where as easy as the 3.8 SC swap.

You can check the vendors online, some of them sell "built" motors that put down some decent numbers.

Why do you want a new engine? Keep in mind if you want to go with something more powerful, you are gonna need to think about a new transmission as well.

Ditto on the l67 (supercharged 3.8) which is usually the next step from a n/a. Honestly your going to be paying out the ass for a aftermarket or even rebuilt new 3800 series 2 engine. If your just looking for more power without putting in a new block, just do a top swap which is available from many vendors.

Not sure if anyone has really put in a larger engine in the impala outside of the w-body platform, but if your looking for something really different and have mad cash then turn it into a 4.3L by using swan racing's stroker kit.

For the cost of the swap and labor, you could sell your car now andbusevthe money for something a lot better.
