My low tire pressure message came on the other day after having my oil changed/ tires checked, etc. there is NO OPTION any more in my radio settings to reset it AND the headlight switch trick isn't working either. I had my BCM replaced/reprogrammed this past May due to problems. Is it possible something wasn't programmed or set up right when the dealer did the work? I know the option used to be there in the radio. Thanks a lot in advance!

Tony

Have you checked your tire pressure? I don't recall my '04 having an option in the radio to reset low tire pressure. The '00-'05 uses the ABS wheel speed sensors to determine when a tire is low. If your tires are at the proper pressure, it could be a bad sensor on one of your hubs.

Tire pressure is good all around. It's not the hubs because my abs/traction control would disable. Been there done that.

Did the headlight switch work in the past? If you have never tried it successfully in the past, my guess would be you are pulling the switch too quickly.

I never had to use the switch in the past, always used the radio. I've tried pulling the switch 3X at different speeds within 5 seconds with no luck. I read you only pull it out to the first position. I've tired first position, all the way out, with and without the brake pedal depressed while doing it. If I'm doing it wrong please tell me. The car is going back into the dealer next Tuesday. Is it possible when I got my new BCM this year that they didn't program it correctly or something is wrong with the new BCM?

The key is you have to do it three times using 5 seconds. It's a lot harder to do than you would think, I'd recommend using a stop watch and pulling the switch when you start it, again at 2.5 seconds and just before it hits 5.

Going back a step, do you still have the factory radio in the car? If so and the option is no longer there, something is definitely fishy.

Yep, still the factory radio. All the options are in there, reset oil, alarm, key fob, lights, horn chirp, etc....

Yeah, if you don't have the TPMS monitor reset in the radio something is definitely up. Give the dealer a call and tell them what you are seeing... someone might have missed something in the programming.

Thanks! Car goes to the dealer Tuesday, I'll let everyone know what they say. If they did miss something, can they just reprogram the existing BCM or must they install a new one and reprogram it. I thought I read you can only program the BCM once.

You are correct, BCMs are only programmable once.

Thanks. I told them I want it fixed right, I don't just want the light/message turned off.

Car fixed! Dealer told me that the computer didn't recognize the wheel sensors. They said it must have lost its programming. So new BCM installed free of charge! Wife took it in for me so I'll have to verify the option is in the radio menu when I get home.
