Well today i finally decided to trade my 2000 impala for a newer 2006 laser blue impala LT. 3.5L engine. This one has sunroof, remote start, home link garage door opener, dual climate control, overhead airbag curtain airbag.. During test drive i told salesman there must be turn signal out because dashboard signal flashing faster than normal. After i went back into dealership the salesman said he rechecked and both turn signals were working. He must have only checked rear. It wasn't until it got dark that i noticed no headlights at all, nothing taillights, hazard flashers on rear worked dash lights were on but nothing up front. So i started checking i took headlights out and discovered both wiring harnesses were disconnected. I reconnected and everything fine now. But could have caused and accident. Here is pic from dealership since i just got back and haven't had time to take any of my own pics yet.

nice color - I wonder why in the world both were disconnected - that's wierd. Did it just have some front end body repair?

Maybe they were taken out to be polished, or the previous owner disconnected them if they hated daytime running lights.

Either way, surprised the dealer missed it - was there no PDI?

Took back to dealer to see if they could swap my battery for the one in 2000 impala. No luck one side post and other top post. But told them about headlights it seems when it was traded it had small crease in fender and they sent it out to local body shop and body shop probably removed front fascia to fix the fender and never reconnected the headlights. And being it is a small rural area where dealership is located, if it's the body shop i'm thinking of, it sounds like their kind of work. Rolling Eyes But i'm having fun with this new impala. Even though dealer got a full tank out of mine and only gave me a 1/2 tank in this one. Cheap skates. Laughing But did some errands and driving yesterday and the driver info. Seems to be showing 35.6 avg. mpg. But that was mostly highway. and all 55 mph. speed zones with the cops checking speed. Haven't a chance to see if it has more get up and go than my 2000 or not. But I like the steering wheel controls for cruise and radio/cd player. And the remote start is nice, And still haven't got pics because rainy weather. And the pic doesn't show the wheels still same design only the ones on the car now are very shiny look like chrome but plastic/ with chrome finish. Rims are not black steel underneath like my 2000 when i had the hubcaps. This look like the 5 spoke aluminum but plastic. Crying or Very sad

Just checked dealership website, they don't even take pic of the exact cars. They have mine up on there but pic is of silver impala even though the description is maroon, 3.4L 160,231 miles which i know is mine.

I doubt previous the owner disconnected on purpose just to get rid of DRLs, as OP indicated ALL front lights were out including headlights, and the tail lights were out etc. Plus DRL can be remedied by pulling the fuse(s). Another possibility though is that the car had HIDs and the previous owner or the delaer took them out and forgot to reconnect...... Either way, glad it was a quick fix.

EDIT: I see the post before mine has the answer, what I suspected in my original post, some front end work.

Thanks i love the car, but right now I've had to reconnect headlights, snap the lower grille in the right way. Friday Dec. 7, the day after i went back and complained about a puddle of what looked like oil on my floor and the battery sounding weak like it was dying. They said battery was fine and no leak. Well Yesterday, went to go to walmart turned key and heard just a click. Went to autozone and found battery dead. Got new battery brought home and installed it. Then Dad complaining of no heat from heater at idle. Just took to GM dealership, low on coolant and seems to be coolant leak but couldn't find so put dye in and told me to return Friday and said they would recheck with black light.

So I went back to dealer i purchased car from they will reimburse me for battery but not sales tax. Rolling Eyes Told them about coolant leak, they said they will take care of it. They want to look at it Thursday. at 10 am. Even though it was AS IS no warranty because it being 2006, they did offer me a warranty for 30 days. Since i am on fixed income, Also got car for $185/mo. So if it is coolant leak it may save me $800. I love the car but it's getting irritating to fix everything. that should have been caught in their so called 110 point inspection. But they have been very friendly and understanding and willing to help anyway they can. And this is a Chrysler, Jeep, Ram dealership. Shocked

Whether or not it is Chrysler, Fiat, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Lick it and stick it enterprises or a Schwinn Bicycle dealership, with all of the issues you are having, you have every right to drop the car off, and get your money back. Every dealership has the same goal; sell the car, quick.

Something does not seem right. IMO, and not playing the "I'm the victim here" mentality, but fact is most dealers have seasoned mechanics. They know when they get burned on a deal after trading in on it, and their job is to save the dealership money and "lets get the car out with as minimal of repairs as possible".

You my friend may have been burnt. I strongly dislike when dealerships take on and take advantage of innocent people. Good luck

I'm feeling older everyday Razz It was a water pump leaking and they replaced it for me no charge. No more coolant leaks but now red fluid seems to be trans. fluid. But put car up on ramps and had a little fight with the damn creeper not going where i wanted it to go. Laughing Found one transmission pan bolt completely missing, had an extra 10mm bolt so put that in and tightened all the other ones that were loose. Also noticed the don't know what the name of it is but that black "washer:" that goes on the transmission line where it goes into trans. had a drop or two of fluid on it. Transmission fluid was LOW so filled up. In the last 500 miles I've put on the car, it seems the trans slipped or took a while to get going it only happened twice, so hopefully the fluid being low was the problem. But since i only filled the trans fluid up 1 hr. ago i won't know if that was the problem. i already told the dealer about the first time after i dropped DAD off at VA hospital for operation that it seemed to hesitate or slipped. It acted almost like a traction control kicking in when wheels spin but my car doesn't have TC. Very Happy

It's a shame this is a 2006 because i have a brand new complete never used GMPP exhaust in the shed that is from my 2000 impala. I had a noise that at first was diagnosed as a bad muffler and to replace it i had to order a whole new exhaust system. Later a mechanic that actually knew something found the problem as the flex plate hitting cover. Too bad the exhaust won't work.on the 2006 impala Sad Confused Confused Confused

I don't think it will, but am not sure. I am still learning about the '06+ model. I've had my 2000 for so long and knew every in and out of that. I mean i could replace my stock muffler with the GMPP one i suppose but would need an adapter.

I'm calling them tomorrow and tell them it is ridiculous buy a newer car and have more problems with leaking fluids in a week then my 2000 gave me in 10 yrs. i owned it. I just checked floor this morning and small amount on floor. Since I don't have ramps that will fit under front of car and hate to bug friend again. I laid on floor and looked with drag light and stretched to where that flat black ring was on trans. line and sure enough wet. So that is the problem it appears everything else is bone dry under there no other signs of leaks. It could be coolant from the line, don't want to get to fired up and end up in the Ashtabula County jail. Laughing It's not funny but you have laugh or you would go nuts. Worrying.
