okay so luckily my engine was covered under insurance due to the fire. I ended up getting 1600 dollars for replacement of the motor. what would it take to swap in a supercharged motor? Can i do it for under this price with installation included? any help would be appreciated. if anyone knows where to find a motor please post links. and because I had to setup a new user name there is no info on my car it is a 2000 Impala with the 3.8. and yes I know about the week transmission I have but it'll do for now.

Check this link http://www.moradpartscompany.com/
you will need the pcm from the supercharged car as well.
Might see if you can get engine and trans still on the cradle then swap everything in and sell your old trans to help on cost.

Ok thanks i will give them a call does the pcm have to be programmed for my car, and if so how would I get that done? Also do i need a wiring harness 2 or do the engines normally come with them. (for some reason I couldn't log on with my other user name)
So here's what im thinking i need:
Engine from a supercharged car w/harness
Pcm is that it?

Its always nice to see insurance work exactly how it should especially with it being my LEAST favorite bill to pay. Engine & PCM and inspect everything else in the engine compartment for damage. Enjoy the boost!

He probably said that because the SS have the 4t65e-HD transmissions. You can get the 4t65e upgrade kit to make it the "HD." I believe it is just a stronger differential.

It will work, but your PCM will need a custom tune to run your existing trans. The valve bodies in the 4t65e were changed significantly in '03.

This is where I got my engine, it's in Rochester.

http://www.wilbertsinc.com/

Check http://www.car-part.com for what other yards around here have.

All junk yards will tell you this. Do your own research on fitment and spoon feed them the answers they want to hear.

The reason why it won't fit is because some L67 cars come with a single pattern drilled flex plate and the bolt pattern is slightly larger on the HD trans (due to a bigger TCC). So the smaller TCC on an L36 car will not bolt up to the flex. Most engines after '03 have the dual drilled flex, if it doesn't have the right flex I have a brand new one (with new flex plate bolts) laying around somewhere that I can sell to you.
