I have a situation that is more annoying than anything else.

When I start my car, the Driver Information Centre (DIC) in my 2004 Impala LS automatically would display the Compass direction and temperature.

I was playing around with my DIC and reset something related to the trip yesterday and now whenever I turn on the car the default display is my Average Speed which I really don't want.

For the life of me I can't figure out how to switch it back so it displays the compass and temperature by default when the car starts rather than having to cycle through the display choices every time until I get to it.

I went through the manual and found no instructions for this. Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks,

Bundy

Good question! I don't have the answer but I am curious as to what it is, so I'm bumping this thread.

It does, at least for me. I always keep it on the temperature/compass.

The only time the car changes it on me is when I get low on fuel, it changes to my estimated range until I fill up and change it back.

I think his issue is that it always reverts back to a default of average speed, regardless of where he has it set when he shuts it off.

Yes that is exactly what it's doing. I start the car and have to change it from Avg Speed to Temperature.

Having said that, tonight I went and got gas, reset my trip mileage and started the car and had the temperature and compass showing all of a sudden. Hopefully it's there again in the morning when I go to work.

So this has me wondering if a reset of the trip mileage caused it to go back. It's only a guess at this point but if it works, then that will make me a happy camper.

Thanks!
