2001 LS (3.8L) with automatic... I noticed a couple of times right after starting the car the idle speed jumped up and down a couple of times... then it leveled off and car ran normally... Now I get a CEL... My code reader says 2 codes but I only see a P0102 which my software says is:

P0102 = MAF or VAF A Circuit Low Input

Is is my MAF crapping out or something else? Is the car Ok to drive for a few days like this?

Try unplugging it see if it act the same. Check you exhaust pressure too. Mine threw that same code and it was the cat.

I pulled the MAF out and sprayed it with MAF cleaner and put it back in... Then I erased the P0102 code and restarted the car... It seemed to make the problem a little worse because it "hunted" up and down in idle speed more than before... After a minute or so it seemed to even out and then the CEL came back on and P0102 came back... I unplugged the MAF and restarted the car and it hunted a little worse for idle speed... This is a re-manufactured MAF that was changed about 2 - 3 years ago...

Finally got around to replacing the MAF sensor... Everything back to normal... Cleared the codes & the CEL...Car starts and runs perfect again...
