So My LIM failed today. I saw the high engine light come on right away and was able to pull off, and was towed to the stealership. LIM, Water Pump, Belt to a tune of $1200 headed my way. Seems like a fair price and is reputable service department. Don't have the time to try to do it myself, sometimes ya just got to pay the piper I guess. Yay!

No, try $200-250. And he's doing water pump and belt on top of it.

I was guesstimating.... water pump is like 30 bucks (approximately) I got one from autozone for that and a belt is also like 20-40 depending on brand. I thought I saw lim gasket kits for like $75 bucks.... just guestimating again... obviously will need rtv, fuel o rings and a few other odds and ends...

Yeah, the gaskets aren't all that much, but then you need a couple gallons of coolant, AT LEAST one oil change. (I do one at the time of LIM repair, and then another one 500 miles later).

If you use synthetic, its more too...still a lot cheaper than 1200 lol

I just done this myself this past week, not bad at all, was out about 350 but that's cause i got my heads resurfaced and head gaskets as well. You just need time and patience and a good set of tools, hand and power tools i might add. Its not for everyone tho, but if you really want to save money and have some decent tools it really is the way to go.
