so I decided that I'm going to supercharge my car I found a supercharger with the intake manifold and fuel rails along with a tuned PCM from a 2000 Grand Prix With a 3.5zzp pulley for 300 is this a good deal, and a good start to my to swap? I know there's many threads out there that tell you what you need for the topswap up but if anybody wants to throw what else I would need on this thread that would be Thanks guys

The PCM won't really do you any good (at a bare minimum it needs to be programmed to your VIN and mods). You'd also need to source a bigger pulley as you won't be able to run a 3.5" pulley on a top swapped car without some serious supporting mods.

Tough to say what you would need, but with the higher compression of an L36, most people start with the standard pulley and a basic tune to see what they need to do. To run a 3.5" pulley I'd think you'd need an intake, downpipe, powerlog/ported rear manifold, maybe rockers, but it's tough to tell without actually scanning the car.

The PCM won't work.

I got everything I needed for a basic swap (minus some random bolts and valve covers) for ~$300 IIRC, doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Yeah, just because it has a 3.5 pulley doesn't make it worth that. I wouldn't pay more than 150 (and thats if the rotors are super nice)

Theres usually plenty of deals going on on the forums. Usually around this time of year, and again in spring there are loads of top swaps and demods available.

honestly the rotors are super nice No play at all super clean but even with that it's still not worth the 300 with the rest that's included? I put 50 down this week and am giving him the rest Friday so link what a good price would be and and nightryder did you have to rebuild the supercharger? And where d you get all your parts from and I've also seen many threads saying all i would have too do is get my vin programmed in im hoping that's the case I'm guns get a list from the kid and basically do the same mods if i can

Quick question. Your car is a 3800 base model?

..And $300 is outrageous for a genIII. I've gotten 2 for $50 a piece.

Keep an eye out at ClubGP and Grand Prix forums. Nearly complete top swaps will show up for around 300 bucks all the time (sometimes cheaper).

Most of the way to a top swap for 100 bucks: http://www.clubgp.com/newforum.....mp;smode=1

The PCM isn't tuned for your particular vehicle. Using that with changed VIN won't do you any good (provided the SERV coders even match up) as you need to tune to your own car. Mod for mod, every car responds differently and there is now way you will ever match up entirely. If you want to top swap, you need to get a tuner (or find someone to do it for you), there really isn't any way around it.

Ok so what if i try to get him down to 200 without the pcm that can't be too bad right? And i do have the gp forums top swap thread bookmarked and read along with many other threads so I'm getting all my knowledge together some people pay more for intakes so that's how I'm looking at it

The PCM physically won't work, GP PCM's don't work in Impala/MC's

Search, you'll find a better price. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for what you have pictured. I found mine near detroit and I met the guy near london ON to pick it up. The market on 3800 parts is way down now and a lot of people are leaving the platform, be patient and chances are you'll find someone ready to dump all their parts for dirt cheap.

Nope Laughing some kid who's car looked like it was falling apart, come to find out the car went up in flames a month or so after we met up. Pretty sure there was a thread about it on CGP. Laughing
