The black steel wheels that come on Impala's are used on many other GM vehicles for the last decade. Are these wheels the same as on 9C1/9C3 cars, or do these cars use a heavy duty wheel for LE only. I know the Dodge Diplomat cop cars all through the 80's used a special HD wheel that only came on cop cars. Is the Chevy 9C1/9C3 rim special? I'm looking in the bone yard for a full size spare, & want one to match the wheels I have. GARY

the wheels are HD, but looking at them, the only difference is the bolt holes for the center cap.

Make sure you get them off a W-Body Impala, older B-Body cars have different bolt pattern and offset. The W-Body has a 5x115 bolt pattern

Thanks. In the cross reference, they show most of the GM FWD cars back to 2000 take the same rim. They have a few 02-04 Impalas in the bone yard, but not 9C1/9C3 cars. I just wanted to make sure they used the same rim. GARY

Wheel will fit from any Impala, Grand Prix, Monte, and a few others.

The black steel wheel found on most Impalas with a hub cap wont have the drilled and tapped holes for the 9C1 center cap. Easily done though.

15in rims from Grand Prix, Grand Am, Malibu will do fine and have a cheaper tire - 215/70R15.

Presumably the 9C1/9C3 doesn't have smaller brakes than the LS models... I don't think 15" wheels fit over the front brakes.

They fit. Sometimes they need fins shaved off Camaro calipers if those are installed aftermarket, but they clear stock single piston brakes.
