relay could def be the answer. Depends on your kit. You might have a bad ballast? when I got rid of mine in my silverado, it was because sometimes I'd turn them on, and only one would come on. So I cut them out. lol

They only worked when they wanted to then eventually the ballast went out yesterday.. Temporarily running silverstars until a new kit comes along.. Any suggestions on a good quality kit for a reasonable price..?

A good quality kit I would recommend is the Raptor Kit from DDM Tuning. Here is the link http://www.ddmtuning.com/Produ.....or-HID-Kit . I got them on my car and they work great. I haven't had any problems with them at all.

I had some issues with a DDM HID kit that ended up being a bad ballast. The lights would fire up, but one of the lights would shut down after about half a second.

The temporary fix was to let the bulb that stayed on to warm up fully, then I was able to toggle the headlights and the second ballast would stay on. I lived with it for a few months before I called them up and had them send a replacement ballast. That's the nice thing about their lifetime warranty. Smile

My HID's also have the same issue. Sometimes when i unlock my car the lights automatically come on, usually the one on the driver side is the one that will go out. until i turn on my car and drive it for a few seconds then it will automatically turn on. But this is only once and a while. I've heard that most impalas have that same problem with HID's. Question

Never had an issue with slim hid kit from ddm. I also got the harness as its basically needed. Also its a good idea to go into your keyfob setting and disable the headlight flash when locking/unlocking your car. Although I have hit the red alarm button on the stock keyfob and that's the only time the headlights will flash cause I don't think that can be turned off. Either way its not a real alarm and I have an alpine deck now, so could really care less.. SAVE THE MONEY and install it yourself. Odds are it was because you didn't have a harness and you had a bad ballast.. 1 of the 2.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I'd like to jump in with a couple of questions... I just got an HID kit for my 2001 Impala LS... The kit is for the low beams (9006 bulbs)...

Do the factory DRL's run on the low beams or high beams? The reason I ask is I am wondering if installing the 9006 HID's will screw up the DRL's...

Thanks!

2000-2004 DRLs run off the high beam bulb. They switched to the low beam bulb in 2005.

OK... Then installing HID's on my low beams will not affect the DRL's...

Thanks!!

I'm maybe having a similar problem... When the ambient light sensor automatically turns on the headlights the HID on the passenger side does not turn on... But I notice that if I manually turn them on using the dashboard switch both HID's will turn on...

Any ideas of a fix for this?

You know you can keep the lights from coming on if you use the FOB

By changing a setting in the BCM
Need a factory radio installed though.

You can also disable the chirp from the horn when using the FOB in the hidden setting menu of the factory radio.
