What is under the dash near the glove box that would leak? It was about 87 degrees today so it wouldn't be rain. It seems to be just water, no smell/color to it. I did run the AC today. Could it just have been so hot that the ac was making condensation in the vents?

If it's been dry, I would check your AC drain hose. The cabin air filter is a common issue on the 00-05 models, but not when the car hasn't been exposed to carwash or rain.

Check this link for the AC drain hose fix.

Haven't worked on it before, but if you're talking about the AC drain hose, the drain point on the AC will probably plug up next and might screw it up?

If you can remove it, it shouldn't be hard to either clean out or replace. It's hardly a frequent service item, so I'd do it right.

I know my 2009 Impala has a plastic shield over the cabin filter. I can get you the part number and you can try this. It's cheaper than anything else to try, The part is pretty cheap if I recall

2000-2005 gen models had some as well, but not Impalas. I think the parts came from a GP or similar. They're less than 5 bucks if I recall right.

I should call the local dealer and see the laughable price they're charging for them up here. Part number, anyone?

* EDIT ; if it's that outrageous up there,I'm sure one of us southerners, such as myself could conceivably minimize the damage. Smile

Thanx

I do know under the cabin filter there is a weather shield that breaks.you have to pull the cowl off to get to it on the passenger side. If it rains or use washer fluid the water will down to the weather shield and leak inside the car.
