So I went by the local auto parts store to look at OBD readers. They varied from $50-$150, but I've read they leave a lot to be desired. I'm not looking for anything fancy, but I want something more than a device that reads codes. I'd like my laptop to be able to read air/fuel mixtures,& other interesting stuff to make sure my car is operating correctly. I've seen on E-bay USB/OBD connectors for sale, & they refer you to sites to download free software, & drivers. Is this any good, or is there a product people can recommend, so my laptop can tell me what's going on in the PCM. GARY
I have one of these and it is good. You will need to suffer through a couple initial headaches to get it to connect with your laptop but it works. There are many software programs available, most are free, but to get all the features they want you to buy a "full version". Anyways, I recommend this ELM 327. Simple USB to car data port connection.
