We have put about four thousand miles on our latest addition and so far am totally impressed.Took a road trip to NMCA meet in Bowling Green KY last weekend and averaged 28 mpg during the round trip. Not bad for a car with 300 hp.So far no buyers remorse. This was a GM lease car had 17k on it when we purchased. One reason we bought I am currently driving my wife's hand me down a 2002 Impala with 188 k still getting 23mpg in town that we bought new in 2002.

I'd love to see some pics, especially under the engine bay. Glad you like it, although you'll most likely get chastised for liking an Impala on this site.

Same here, I'm curious to see what they did with the new engine.

The people that get chastised are those that leg hump the Impala just because it's an Impala. I'm not seeing any of that behavior in this thread.

You're right about the complainers. Perhaps a new site would be more appropriate for them. How 'bout NAIHG (North American Impala Haters Group)

I own a '06 LT3 and a '12 LT and like both of them. Yes, both required some initial "adjustments" and minor repairs in their first few thousand miles, but I'm a very fussy enthusiast and I've had some repairs required on non-GM cars as well. In my opinion, the perfect affordable car is yet to be built! My Impalas' are good performing, comfortable, and while the styling is dated, their styling is still very nice when compared to some of the grotesque competitors "change for change sake" designs. I get a kick out of the "Dated " Styling quote that pops up here.
I have seent he days when each car year styling looked a little different ... It also drove up cost for replacement parts, especially suspension and body parts.

and I also remember those little German bugs that did not change for 3 or 4 decades ... and sold like hot cakes .... So Dated Stying is not a negative in all cases.

just my 2 Cents on that argument..

Yeah the 3.6l

He is saying the 3.9 doesn't make 300hp, which is correct

I drove a 2012 Impala LT (rental) for four months earlier this year. It's a decent car and probably a decent value on the used market (but overpriced new).

My wife has been making noises about wanting a new car (especially after the recent transmission kerfuffle in her '05). She and I looked at a black 2012 LT on a local Chevy lot with 12k on the clock. Dealer was asking $16k. She liked it a lot. Not sure if we'll pull the trigger or not, but I wouldn't be against it.

So far I have been throughly impressed.I looked at less expensive but we usually drive a car so long I always try to get something loaded so I won't wish I had got an option that is hard to add later.I'm also really liking the 18 inch wheels these LTZ's have. These cars just really caught my eye and I looked for about 6 months before I decided to get one.I was pretty sure it was gonna be black or white and saw the white one and couldn't resist.
