While moding the exterior lighting system on my 2008 Impala LS (http://www.naioa.com/v2/module.....mp;t=47626 ) I accidentally killed my BCM .. I suspect ...?! Confused

A small piece of bared wire that might have been flown around while I was routing and connecting some cables underneath the dash, fell into the unpluged grey female connector of the BCM and did a short circuit when I put the plug back in ... Bang Head Head Explode!

The headlights now go on automatically and can't be switched off, turn signal/hazard switch without function, dito door locking system, interior dome light stays on after ignition off, but after all car still cranks and runs ... Rolling Eyes

I didn't found much about swapping or replacing a BCM on the board here ... Confused but I googled and maybe someone could additionally answer me some questions:

1. a used one (ebay, junk yard ...) wont work at all or won't work proper in all systems, e.g, the radio won't play, interior lights won't go on /off ..., right ?

2. a new one will have to be programmed with TECH2 at a GM dealership ... also right ?!

3. is there any source where I could get a fully programmed BCM (with my RPOs and VIN) and get it sent to Germany ?
If so, what would it cost ? Approximately ..?

4. Any chance to get my damaged BCM repaired for a reasonable price ?

I already contacted my local GM dealer, he said he can get me a new one (although the Impala isn't sold here in Europe) and get it programmed ... he hopes so.
And it won't be a bargain he said ... Confused

Any suggestions ?

from what I understand the best is a new one from Zspot (here on the forum(plus he is very honest and knowledgeable)). Than get it installed at a local dealer or install outside dealers lot and they will have to program it with their tech 2. I don't think it can be programmed outside of the vehicle.

Ok, so it seems that I'll have to buy a new one ... which I expected Confused

On my research I found out that the same BCM is also used in the OPEL Antara, which in fact is a Chevy Captiva.
Both are sold over here and I work at a OPEL steal ... eh .. dealership Laughing , so maybe I will get a good discount on the part if I order the OPEL part instead of a (more expensive) Chevy part anywhere else ... Rolling Eyes Wink

I'll keep you updated whow this story will end .. Cool

However, thanks for info.
