I tried to search for the answer but came up empty handed. What model year Impalas came with the factory remote start setup?

I have a 04 SS and I would like to have one. Before I go the aftermarket route I'd like to know if it came with one.

Even if it was available as a factory option for your year, it would likely be cheaper and easier to have an aftermarket system installed.

X2

I installed my remote start and bypass myself for $100. $54 the bypass and $47 for the remote start system.

Under $100? Can't beat the price. Is there a online retailer that sells those still?

Just as a caution a remote start system can be difficult to install if you are not used to it. following instructions is one thing but its a beast to troubleshoot. Not to discourage you just a word of learned knowledge Very Happy

That being said i agree with the above in getting an aftermarket. I've had a python for years and have loved it. (python is made by directed electronics so they have many other brands such as viper that are the exact same thing.) also a few people i know recommend audiovox as well.

With the brands mentioned, don't those systems have alarms as well? Or can they be just one or the other depending on what the customer wants.

You can have the remote start/alarm system but they are way more involved with installing, and I would recommend a professional installation for an alarm system.

Most definitely a pro will do the install. I like doing things for myself, but I figured out a while ago if I mess it up its on me and if they mess it up... They're gonna fix it until its right.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm gonna do some looking around for a aftermarket system.

I have a Viper system and love it. 1-mile range, supposedly. I've never tested it further than about a half mile, but it works! Handy when it's cold out in wintertime.

Yeah the winter time is a must for it, but here lately our triple digit summer days have made it miserable. So year round should be a wise investment.

I had an Audiovox Prestige system in my 04SS, worked flawlessly for the 4 years I owned the car. Had a DEI system in the 02LS, dealer installed and worked with the factory fobs. again, flawless operation for the 3 years I owned it
